Oracle Retail is looking for an engineer who is interested in joining our team based in Minneapolis, Minnesota and taking a leading role in driving innovation in our development organization to meet the growing needs of Oracle Retail and beyond. **What do we do?** Oracle Retail is the Global Business Unit at Oracle focused on the retail industry. The Retail Global Business Unit (RGBU) delivers a complete set of mission-critical retail solutions, cloud services, and hardware to allow our customers to gain the insight and agility they need to delight their customers at every touchpoint. Our offerings provide a comprehensive, complete solution that includes back-office functionality for finance and human resources and extends throughout planning, merchandising, the supply chain, and multiple retail channels.Youâll be joining a small research team responsible for driving innovation initiatives that impact the entire suite of RGBU offerings. The team works on several projects, small and large, that investigate new and disruptive technology and processes that allow our product teams to lead the market.
**Responsibilities** Our senior engineers lead by example and drive our organizationâs progress in a variety of ways, with responsibilities including:
+ Teaching and mentoring other engineers through forums included but not limited to Slack support channels, design meetings, code reviews and one-on-one conversations (in person or remotely using Zoom). + Implementing solutions that draw inspiration from a wide net of resources and knowledge to impact engineering teams around the world and enable entire product offerings. + Creating and reviewing design plans and documents both within our team and across multiple teams. + Partnering with engineers from other teams adopting and using technology weâve researched to facilitate their applicationsâ specific or unique needs.
Analyze, design develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for commercial or end user applications. Writes code, completes programming and performs testing and debugging of applications.
As a member of the software engineering division, you will analyze and integrate external customer specifications. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture. Build new products and development tools. Build and execute unit tests and unit test plans. Review integration and regression test plans created by QA. Communicate with QA and porting engineering to discuss major changes to functionality.
Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.
